Wow. Lobster tails are a bit much, don't ya think? Not only would that be expensive, but it's not really a formal gala or anything, and I don't think lobster tails would go with cheese & crackers and fruit salad. Isn't it just going to be a small group of women?
If you want something formal, I'd go with some type of chicken breast dish. You also have to keep in mind that if it's a new home, you don't want anything messy! That's serious potential for some spill damage.
Personally, I think for something cozy and informal like a housewarming party with fruit salad and such, I'd go with little finger sandwiches or something. Have some strawberries to go with the champagne, and if you want to be a little more fancy or creative, use cookie cutters to cut the finger sandwiches into different shapes. For a nice spin on things, or for something different, try doing a chocolate fondue for dessert!

Why not have lobster thermador? That way you have the lobster without the mess.
You could have some sort of potato dish - like twice baked potatoes with it and a colorful vegetable salad and rolls.
Something to look classy in a chafing dish
and taste good too.

Pan Roasted Filet Mignon with Rum-Red Chile Sauce
Rum-Red Chili Sauce:
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 shallots, minced
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 cup dark rum (recommended: Meyers's)
5 cups chicken stock
2 tablespoons ancho chili puree
2 tablespoons molasses
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Melt the butter and olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium high heat. Add the shallots and garlic and cook until soft. Add the rum and reduce to 1/4 cup. Add the stock, bring to a boil and reduce the heat. Whisk in the remaining ingredients and simmer until reduced to 2 cups.
Filet Mignon:
1 (5-pound) beef tenderloin
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
Season tenderloin with salt and pepper on both sides. Place a large ovenproof skillet over high heat, melt the butter and sear tenderloin on all sides. Place in oven and cook to desired doneness or until an instant-read thermometer inserted registers 125 degrees F for medium rare, about 30 to 40 minutes depending on the thickness of the tenderloin. Let the meat rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with the sauce.

Hmm...maybe you could try going for sushi, like california rolls, those are easy to make and quite filling. Seaweed wrap, rice, crabsticks, mayonaise and shredded cucumbers thins as well as those orange fish eggs thing.
Hmm...another thing that I could think of is stuff like muffins, danish pastries, cocktail sausages (could serve them like on those small sticks), now that im thinking ofit, maybe if you want to come off original, you could serve shish kabob. Could have like a small grill/bbq party during your housewarming :)
Anyway, hope I helped. Hope youll have fun and the party turns out great

you can have ham and cheese cubes with toothpicks struck through it.
you can make bite size oatmeal choc chip walnut cookies, just get the oatmeal cookie recipe underneath the quaker oatmeal canister and add chocolate chips and walnut pieces.
hot wings or honey mustard wings, for the hot wings use matouks hot sauce, you have to go to an west indian store, for the honey mustard wings, use a high quality honey mustard bbq sauce, one thats yellow.
cook those little sausages and have a bbq dip in the middle
make brownies and cut them in tiny squares
buy mrs smith deep dish peach pie and edys vanilla bean ice cream and serve that
take a homemade salsa and mix it with homemade guacomole and serve it with white corn tortilla chips and buy a bag of red and blue chips and mix it with it. also mix a can of chili with a jar of queso, heat and mix it together and put a tablespoon of sourcream on top.

I'd go simple and keep it to finger foods. If you've got your heart set on lobster tails, use rock lobster or consider prawns.
