Is it possible to PID from other sources besides sex?

And is there anyway to find out if you have it without going to the doctor?

Absolutely. I know of some people who got it from a tampon getting stuck and infecting them.
PID is a life threatening disease. If you think you have it, you should beat a path to the doctor's!

Yes, untreated bacterial vaginosis can cause PID.
Why wouldn't you go to the doc? You don't want to let that go - it can cause a bunch of problems, including infertility and chronic pain from scar tissue.
