thai green curry, you'll need: vegetable oil meat (chicken, turkey, fish or shellfish, all work well just use whatever you prefer) a small to medium onion, garlic, fresh corriander (a good handful per portion), chillie or tabasco sauce, a tin of coconut milk, a teaspoon of ground cumin per person half a pint of veg stock per person (use a stock cube) and then two of the following, new potatoes, aubergine, courgette, maunjtout (excuse the spelling) those baby sweetcorn things, right then, cook the meat first, (unless fish, see below) grill or fry depedning on how healthy you are then blend the onion garlic, most but not all of the coriander, chillie or tobasco (if you like hot add loads if not then don't) and cumin, in a food processor or mortar and pesil into a paste, fry in the vegetable oil until it's turned light brown, (this will make your kitchen smell fantastic and it'll be nice for your fella to walk into). once brown add the coconut milk and stock, bring to boil then simmer, add the two veg mentioned above, cook for 10 minutes or until cooked, add the meat (if your using fish then add it at the same time as the veg). Then serve with naan bread or rice (or both) and use the remaining fresh corriander to garnish, as an added extra a foreign beer like tiger beer or something fom the orient goes very well (ice cream or sorbet for pudding is nice especially if you've had a fiery hot version) Bon Appetite! and sorry for the lack of precise amounts for the ingredients

When in need of a quick, easy, cheap meal that impresses I always go with a roast chicken. You can buy one ready cooked from most larger supermarkets, or if you want to cook it yourself it only takes an hour and a half (for the average sized bird). It takes no effort...just bung it in the oven and check on it every twenty minutes. It can be placed on the table to be carved by your man.

I also buy small new potatoes, chop them in half and add them to a bowl with vegetable or olive oil and some chopped garlic. Place them on a baking tray and cook for ten minutes. They come out beautifully soft.

Any fresh or frozen vegetables can be cooked in around ten-twenty mins also to round off the meal and it can all be done easily at the same time with the minimum of fuss.

Shepard's Pie---
1 lb of lean hamburger
1 can of condensed potato soup
1 can beef broth
1 onion--chopped
Instant mashed potatoes
Shredded Cheese--whatever kind you like
Salt and pepper to taste

Brown the meat and the onion till done and drain. Mix this with the soup and broth--don't add water or anything. Put it into a round casserole dish. Layer your cheese on top of the meat. Then cover everything with the mashed potatoes (mixed up by the pkg directions) and add a little more cheese on top. I usually put it in the microwave for about ten minutes and presto---cheap and quick. Toss a salad and add a loaf of good french bread and they'll love you forever.

Apricot chicken! It's always a hit. Just buy some chicken breasts and some apricot/pineapple jam. Season the chicken with some kind of spicy seasoning ( I use carribbean jerk by McCormick's because its sweet and spicy) but don't go overboard with too much heat. Then mix some jam and dijon mustard together, spoon it on the chicken, put it in 375 degree oven for 30 minutes and voila! It's pretty, and it tastes damn good!!!! Buy one of those readymade salads and you're good to go.

I would have to say a roast. They have these awesome roasting bags where all you have to do is throw the meat in (any kind of steak will do) some carrots a couple of cut up potatoes and and onion. Sprinkle the included spices on and thrown some water in the bag. Seal it up, toss it around to get everything happy, put it in a pan. poke a hole or two in the top of the bag and let it go in a 350 degree oven for a couple of hours. It is awesome. You can have it with some rice or alone or with noodles. Whatever you want and they will think you slaved over it all day long.

How quick?
Go to the meat counter at the local grocery store and ask them. They're the best source of advice.
If they're not much help, pick up a basic cut of pork, cut it into strips, and stir fry with frozen vegetables. Flavor with soy and/or teriyaki sauce, and serve over steamed rice.
