What is the estimated percentage of men affected? and of those, how many (estimate) are aware of the problem going into a marriage? Do these figures vary among race lines? Are there required test now in place to get this tested before a marriage license is issued?

One rare complication of mumps in men is orchitis (inflammation of the testicles) which can lead to infertility due to low sperm count. Those men in that situation may not know it until pregnancy issue surface. I guess it is the same across races and only about 1% got that. Unless a guy wants a sperm count before marruage, there is nothing else to do!

i think it's safe when you've had mumps when you were a child. the probability of misconception (inability to impregnate) is higher among men who had mumps at a later age (adults.)

have you had mumps when you were a child? to see if you are immune from it, you could ask for blood titers (but they're a little expensive though, hopefully your insurance covers it). as for the test to see if a man will be able to perform his duties, im not so sure. i may have heard of it, but i cannot remember.

Do you mean "Mumps"?
Additional symptoms of mumps in male includes testicle pain,
testicle lump and scrotal swelling. If proper treatment is not done, inflammation of testicles will result (orchitis). This will block the flow of sperm from the testicles.
Please see the webpages for more details on Mumps.
