No because I'm allergic to meat...i would therefore die quicker by eating it

Since I am vegetarian for moral reasons, I would have a hard time of it. After a few days, I would probably begin to eat meat, but hopefully only limited meat, and not that much red meat. Hopefully this island would also have fruits on it...seeing as the animals lived there, so I might just eat whatever it is that helps these animals survive.

I'm a vegan, but I would still eat meat if it was necessary for my survival. That is the complete opposite of our culture now, where we have an abundance of everything, and millions of animals are bred, tortured, and killed each year so that we can gorge ourselves on animal flesh. If we were stranded on an island with no other option, we would be just like any other animal that must eat meat to survive, so there would be no moral issue with it. I still wouldn't like it, but I think I would eat meat in that situation.

What kind of island are we on that has animals but no sustainable fruit or vegetables? That doesn't add up. Even if most of the animals are carnivores, there would eventually be something in the food chain that ate fruit.

Now, if I was stuck in a building or somewhere without food, of course I'd eat meat. I'd take a thorough look around though.

If it is a matter of survival, I am sure most, if not all, would say yes. However, that is the point of vegan and many vegetarian: the world today produces a lot of food, and no longer needs to hunt to sustain life. We could all eat food from vegetation, and not the flesh of dead animals.

If it is a matter of survivability, vegans and vegetarians would most probably opt on eating dead flesh to live.

No, because I wouldn't HAVE to eat meat. There'd most likely be some type of fruit on the island, because I'm sure that not all the animals on the island are carnivorous. Even if there were carnivorous animals on the island, there'd also be herbivorous animals on the island for the carnivores to eat, and the herbivores would eat various plants and fruits. Therefore, I'd eat the fruits the herbivores would eat.

I went through Hurricane Katrina and was prepared to eat whatever I could get my hands on, including meat. But do you know the National Guard soldiers handed out MREs that were vegetarian? And the relief workers gave out vegetarian and organic snacks and packaged food. I was surprised and pleased!

Its not about survival. Being vegetarian for me is something different. Population of homo-sapiens has exploded- unaturally. Population of animals whom we eat has not. So it is neccesary that we try to be vegetarians and be more efficient in using the solar energy available as whole (Know how many plants cow has eaten before you eat it?)
For carnivorous animals it is OK to be a meat eater as their population is very less. So they are just controlling their prey. We can decimate them in a day if all are eating just meat!
Also, I find veg food delicious!

Oops I forgot. Biomagnification too. Harmful chemicals get accumulated as food chain goes up. so non-veggies get more concentration of harmful non-biodegradable chemicals.

That's like saying that if you don't eat meat you will live forever. You're going to die anyway, and when you do, it won't be from eating veggies, hopefully.

It happens to everybody. Even vegetarians.

Most vegan/vegetarian's I think would because its not factory farm animals which are injected with horrible chemicals for you. Being a vegetarian I could not kill it myself.

But in retrospect why would there be no plants there? No berries? Nothing?
