Take your weight and multiply it by 12. This is the amount of calories you burn by just existing. If you don't excercise and figure 3500 calories makes up a pound, you would need to eat the original number and then some per day. I've seen plenty of fat vegetarians so apparently its doable, either that or they've switched to veggie diets because they became fat in the first place. You shouldn't really have a desire to be fat anyways, no one really does unless they like being tortured. If you want to gain weight in the form of lean muscle, you would want whey protein supplements and a weightlifting routine with gradually increasing the weight. Make sure you can do 2-3 sets of 4-6 reps (no less than 4 no more than 6) of lifting weights. This will ensure you to build muscle, you should supplement with the protein shakes within 20 minutes after you are done lifting weights.
Good luck!

Why should you become fat??? If you are in america, men like thin women!!!
But even so, try using a lot of butter and oils to put in extra fat into your foods. But watch out not to become seriously overweight.
Also, try eating a lot of carbohydrates, like the ones in bread, cereals, etc.

You need to eat lots of carbohydrates (pasta etc) with lots of fat on it, i.e. margarine and things like nuts which have a high calorific value. But, why do you want to get fat?

Take dinner rich in fat content. if you are OK with dairy products, use butter/ghee etc. Taking heavy dinner as after dinner you burn least amounts of calories. Perhaps this will help for you too.
