gbs attack for 2 times.first in 2002 & 2 nd in 2006.now age 60 years.both times immunoglobulin serum was given in full doses of 400mg.for 5 days.recent attack was very severe.known diabetics

Gullaine barre syndrome (also called poly radiculo neuropathy)is a viral infection causing paralysis of all the four limbs.But it is self limiting.Complete recovery only with nursing care used to be the rule. But after the advent of specific antisera body`s immune response is only half expressed and a second attack is possible. Incomplete immune response twice(iatrogenic),diabetes and ageing can result in 3rd episode.But this time it must be less severe.Prognosis is good.

This is the first that I have heard of GBS coming back.
I don't see a solid correlation between GBS and diabetes, but I know that it is an immune disorder and some people with diabetes have problems with the immune system.
