Most people are shocked when they come to the US and find so many people are stuck in religious fundamentalist thinking from 2 or 3 centuries ago.

Personally, I have found the most modern thinkers in Germany, followed by Britain and France. But that's just informal; I don't know what place has the highest ratio.

What are you comparing it with? Without knowing that, it would be hard to give a ratio.
