I teach languages. People ask this question but it is difficult since it depends on who you are and what you know. For example, if you have studied even a little Spanish, you will find French grammar to be fairly easy since you have already learned a lot about how that type of language works.

Definitely English spelling makes things difficult since it doesn't make sense. The difficulty of grammar depends on how much grammar you know. If you have trouble with the grammar of your own language, you will have much more with any foreign language.

People have trouble with the subjunctive in French since we hardly use that form and the French use it a lot but they have trouble saying something like

I want him to do it

since they would use the subjunctive.

Je veux qu'il le fasse.

English is known as the Essy language because of the fact we do not use our throat for some of the sounds made in french or the roles of the sounds of words with the tong

English is a trade language and is designed to be simple for quick communication where as other languages more poetic and the words frequently have deeper meaning. For instance, do you hear English at the opera?
