2006 has more horsepower, but it weighs more, aftermarket parts are expensive

1993 you can add horsepower for less money and have a better source of aftermarker parts that are less expensive

I have owned a lot of older mustangs and several 93, so I would pick the 2006, just because it was new and I haven't tried on out.

Well i would have to agree with the first answer ( i have a 66 fastback that i truley enjoy).

However, i have a feeling you want to know about which motor is better, seeing that you listed those specifically and not so much the car itself.

The newer motors that Ford has been installing in their cars lately are modular motors. These blocks have couple of perks, one being that they are in just about every vehicle Ford produces with a V8. Being that they are "Modular" means about 99% percent of the parts are interchangable, from car to truck to van, it doesn't matter. Newer motors also tend to perform better, meaning that if are a sensible driver you SHOULD get better MPG, less emittions, smoother ride, ect..... But this changes from driver to driver. The only downside is that this motor type has only been around for about ten years, not very long considering your other option (will explain later), so repairs and parts tend to be expensive unless they are covered by a warrenty. A very good daily driver!!!!!

Now for the 5.0 motor, a tried and true engine, and is more versitile. The 5.0 has basically been around since the advent of the 289 back in the early 60's. Minor changes to the internals, but other than that, it is basically the same thing. Now many people will say that older cars are nothing but trouble, but that is all in how you look at it. the 5.0 was built to be a performance motor, don't get me wrong, but with the proper care you can get all the perks of a newer motor, for way cheaper. Ford hasn't really changed the way things work on their motors, for example the fuel injection for the 5.0 is almost identicle to the 4.6 (stick with that works, Right?) The biggest perk for the 5.0, is the fact that they are easy to work on (if your mechanically inclind) parts are cheap, and it is a very basic design. So even if you have never worked on a car before in your like, you would have no problem do minor maintinance to your vehicle. Plus there are very versital, daily driver during the week, within a few hours it can be turned in to a nice street racer for the weekend, and turned back into your daily driver for moday.

Either car would be a great choice, in my opinion if you don't ever want to touch yoour can, other than to drive it go with the 06. If you want to have something to tinker with, and still get for point A to B with side stops at C, D & E. go with the 93.

The question that you don't give a clue to is; What are you going to us it for? Are you going to race it, drive it to work, or what? It is obvious that a new 2006 will have less miles and wear & tear on it than a 1993, but if you are going to build a hot rod the 93 5.0 can be better. When you look at all the factors including size and length of payments, the 93 might begin to look even more attractive. One must ask their self; what is the best move between wants and needs. I want a Rolls Royce, but I can afford a VW. I think once you really weigh all the differences you will come up with the soultion. Good Luck!

OK a mustang is a mustang most people don't get them for their fuel mileage or the warranty not even the motor size sometimes. they get them because they love the car they are the car be the car you know i have yet to get my first pony car and i would choose it over any other car. I have had a contour svt really fast car no joke and now i drive a ford f 150 boss truck needless to say burnt tires oh yeah, but would trade it tomorrow for the right mustang so the question really is which mustang fan are you the good old days of 5.0 or the new age 3 valve 4.6 gt either way they a both a pony good luck

The camaro wasn't droppe for build quality issues. The mustang is a better driver's car, but the camaro is a performance enthusiasts car. The 85-93 GT won't smoke an LS1 what are you smoking? They guy is right. The Mustang GT was slow as hell and is still slower than the last gen camaro. Even the cobra was slower and it wasnt till 2003 that the cobra was running with the SS. Should i provide performance numbers to back that or not? I don't mind the mustang, but it is the most overrated car on the planet.

The 93's were good. But if I had my choice of either, I would go with the 2006. Mainly just because they look like the old mustangs. And if I'm not mistaken the 4.6 has more power than the 5.0.

well it all boils down to what you can afford, but i say the 93 had the crap ran out of it ,they were good strong cars but it is getting old .on the other hand if there about the same money the 2006 must have been wrapped around a tree about four or five times, total lost pieced back together and is no where near right. but i would take the 2006 if its not been wrecked, more power-full motor they clam, and it looks allot like my 65 mustang they are a tough looking car.

I would go with the 2006 because of all of the warranty options i hope u will have. U never know how the 93 has been driven, maintained,or abused. Plus i am sure if ya want more hp you can always but the chips for the newer models. They look better too!!!!
