See, something that is prohibited has to be something that is already prevalent amongst people, and somebody with wisdom and authority noticed it, and found it to be a detriment to well being. Where Christianity evolved, in those places, there was no such practice, so why should somebody imagine and create such an objection foreseeing that 2000 years later, some Christians may reach India, and imitate the local fashion ?
Now, if the present religious preachers of Christianity have found some thing very wrong with this custom , it is their wisdom, and choice of the followers, within the religious freedom they enjoy .
But if the question is about bindi on forehead, it is a much much ancient practice, again prescribed out of wisdom of ancient sages, thousands of years ago, and it has not only stood the test of time, but abundant scientific reasons, of its advantages, both for physical well being, as well as subtle but more powerful advantage at spiritual level, has been elaborately explained to anyone interested, irrespective of their personal faith/religion, because, fundamentally, this bindi is a Hindu custom, and Hinduism is a way of life, much more than the scope of meaning of the word 'religion' !

It depends on what church you belong to. Many of the Protestant churches regard all the practises of Hindus as unchristian, whereas the Roman Catholic churches are permitted as a matter of policy, to follow the local traditions, while propagating their religion. I came across a news item in a leading magazine of the RC priest hoisting the cross on shiv linga in his church. His reasoning was that Shiva is the oldest of the gods and by hoisting the symbol of Crucifixion, he intends to symbolise the take over of the former by the latter. In my view, one need to follow ones own tradition; as to the practises in countries other than their own, it is appropriate to follow such practises as would not scandalise the local population.

Aren't these Bindys about their cast system? I mean if its part of their religion, I would refuse to wear it, and if it is a mark of status in their cast system I would refuse to wear it on principle. In Christianity, their is equal value for all human life. In the cast system, the classes literally define your worth as a person. I suggest you introduce the 'everyone is valuable' state of mind that we enjoy in Christianity. It is not about condemning their way of life, its about showing them God's opinion of their worth so that, like the priests in the temple whose wares Jesus scattered calling them thieves, or the lepers and prostitutes He shared tables with. Jesus went about destroying the Jewish version of casts.

It is not the wearing that would be sinful, it would be the intent. If you are wearing it for fashion or out of respect (when in rome) then no i do not believe it would be sinful.
