Just curious. Don't let pride get in the way of your answer.

mr edsawyer- ''just curious' or if it's really as insufferably arrogant as it appears'
a-both, but you'll be ok.

'believed in the _exact same God_ as you do'
a-wrongo, but if it helps you to feel better to believe that, then ok.

'Abrahamic God that brought such suffering to the world'
a- God didn't do it. haven't you heard of 'free will'?

'I cursed, I shouted, I cried, I sat in silence, I spoke to friends, I made frantic telephone calls. I did everything that a human would do in such a situation'
a-wow... that must've sucked. seriously. not trying to be 'insufferably arrogant', either. it's just gotta suck to have no hope. i'm glad i didn't come from primordial slime, and won't turn into dust and bones when i die.

btw, i know that it hurts to admit that there is a god and it isn't you.

good question, I'm sure they call on God quite often yet still deny God.

I'm trying to decide - giving the benefit of the doubt - if a question like this can truly be 'just curious' or if it's really as insufferably arrogant as it appears.

No, of course I did not pray. God does not just magically 'enter' my life at opportune times... The pilots who flew those planes into those buildings believed in the _exact same God_ as you do, and believed that they were doing that God's work on that day.

It made me abhor religion much more and made me want to condemn the vision of the Abrahamic God that brought such suffering to the world.

I cursed, I shouted, I cried, I sat in silence, I spoke to friends, I made frantic telephone calls. I did everything that a human would do in such a situation.

I did _not_ pray.

Ever heard of free will? Do you expect God to stop everything bad from happening? God gave us free will and with it comes choices and some people make bad choices like those who caused 9/11.

Not me. Why would I want to have a chat with a God that allows Sept 11th to happen???!??

Not me, but then again, I was much younger then (15 now), so the full realization of what really happened only came during the week ensuing the event.

Not I.
I was sleeping.
Then I was astounded.
Then I was worried (gf in DC).
Then I went to work.

Not really any time to pray.
