It really depends on the kind of agency, many agents are only too happy to see casual candidates and don't draw inferences from that when passing you on to clients. But... some do, particularly accountancy agencies and high end professional agencies, but I've met some extraordinairily snobby fools working in low rent high street agencies as well, so it's better to be safe than sorry and wear a suit or better still ask them if they want you to dress for an interview or if casual would be OK.

Always dress business professional when going on all interviews. The purpose of the Job Agency interview, is to evaluate who you are as well as how well you dress. Many agencies want you to represent them well on the job interview. You're in a position as liaison. One never has a second chance at making a first impression. This is one way of building trust and a professional relationship that could possibly lead to a permanent position.

I don't see the point in getting dressed up to go to see an agency to register for work. For an interview, yes. For an agency, no. In theory, an agency is just a shop where you go in, look at what's there, and hopefully leave with something that you want. Would you get dressed up to go to Tesco? Probably not, so I wouldn't get dressed up just to give some details in to someone.
I , personnaly, hate employment agencies with a passion so I wish you all the best of luck in your job search.

Always dress like your going for an interview. They might send you out on one that very day. Also that old saying about first impressions is true. You might not get selected to go on the prime interviews if you don't make a good impression on the agency. Sad to say but appearance is everything. Good luck.

First impressions are important. The job agency is going to hopefully place you in work, I'd dress as if going to an interview.

As if I am going for an interview - these people are the ones that will put you forward for jobs so it always best to dress to impress, and be honest. Tell them exactly what you are looking for in a job.
Good luck

First impressions always count, if you go to a Recruitment Agency they will expect you to arrive as though your going for the job, they use this impression of you and your answers in the initial interview as selling points to get you the best position.

Dress as it was an interview, but make sure the clothes match the job. If you are going for office type work, smart business ware. If you are going for a warehouse job, smart, clean clothes, but a suit would be daft. If you are customer facing, go a little plainer as you will meet lots of people.

Go for the full works - you're trying to impress people who will have a direct effect on your career. If you turn up looking like a slob no-one is going to want to send you for an interview anywhere - it will reflect badly on them! Good luck with the job hunting and remember that, sadly, where your career is concerned, appearances really do matter.
