well, i don't think this means that the wise man has nothing to say, quite the opposite, he has much to say, but it takes him 3 sentences to say what it might take another a lifetime to blather on about.

This reminds me of the example that some philosophers give that “if the pot is empty it will produce sound, if it is full it will not produce sound”. It sounds interesting, but are we pots. If like you say : "the wiser a man is, the less talkative will he be"?, than the tree will be the wisest creature. It stays there on one place for decades without saying anything, without complaining and without protesting even if someone comes and tries to cut it down. But do we consider the tree a wise philosopher? No.
If someone has only nonsense to speak, than yes it is wiser to not speak at all. But if someone actually possesses knowledge he should speak 24 hours a day, so that others may be benefited too. A wise person is one who shares his knowledge with others. He is wiser, not miser.

If a person is wise enough, they will quickly get to the point. (less talkative)
The wiser person will listen more (less talkative) then speak their mind.
If a person is not very talkative, (and its because they dont know what to say, or they dont have anything to say) doesnt that make them wise for keeping quiet so that they allow others (who ARE aware of the conversation) to talk...? Makes sense right? : )

Yes, I agree. A wise man knows that anything he says could be taken out of context.

psychologists and eminent people in personality development give preference to listening to talking. if we go on listening to others we can learn a lot of things which we don't know.if we go talking without giving chance to others to express their views, we will be the ultimate looses as we have lost opportunity of learning new schools of thought. after all silence is gold.

So that he can absorb more stuff rather than he talks and never listen to what other people know and that he don't. You learn something new everyday, don't you agree?
