I consider myself a photographer. I may not be a "professional" one because my income doesn't depend entirely on photography (although I do some paid jobs) and I still have stuff to learn about photography (especially on professional digital cameras) but I think I know more about photography than the average person, having taken a few photography/darkroom classes and being going for a Photography degree as soon as I complete my Graphic Design program.
I enjoy photographing a variety of things on my 35mm SLR camera. Even the dullest subject matter can result into a beautiful arsty picture if composition, cropping and lighting are original. Anyway, my favorite subjects are animals, especially cats -- but I also do dogs, other pets and wild animals if I bump into some. My approach is both studio and journalistic. If a cat owner calls me because he wants me to take a classic studio portrait of his cat, I'll do it. You know, the typical "cat fancy" stuff. That way, I have taken some portraits I'm quite happy with. But I also like to observe cats and shoot them in their everyday life situations, as if I was telling a story or documenting what cat life is like. Some of my funniest cat pictures have been taken that way.
Being a graphic designer, I also enjoy making cat calendars, cat greeting cards and other kitty stuff using my own cat pictures.

The photographer is me. I love to shoot things that I have no control over. Lightening, rainclouds, fireworks, animals, pretty much anything outside. But I don't use the digital camera to do it. I use a fully manual 35mm camera so that I can adjust the settings and readings the way that I want. I also like to shoot a lot of black and white, but if I do, I develop it myself, the old fashioned way. So I can control what is developed and what is not. There is something about seeing an image appear ion the paper while you are watching it.

Yes.

Photographed kids when they were younger with film camera.

Now I use a digital and take pictures of about anything. Mostly nature, buildings (barns), and garden pics.

Have used flickr for about a year and like it. Just recently started adding the overflow pictures to yahoo pictures. It's better than having them sit in a shoe box.

I have been one for over 30 years. I find the "discovery" phase of shooting the best. I love to talk to people and listen to their stories. I attempt to understand what they do and why they believe they are right. I also like returning to someplace that I've shot a few times before and try and get something new. While I can enjoy a great landscape, I want people in my my photos. I want to show what their lives are like. I want to let "life flow over me" and capture fractions of seconds for eternity. I have a great job and can't think of anything else I'd rather do. (I GET PAID TO TAKE PHOTOS!)
