IMF is coming and we know the Government are trying thier best to motivate Singaporean to smile and also Go the Extra Mile Service...I am jus wondering....how can we achieve that?? Only the service provider can go the extra mile or even general singaporean who are not into the service sector can perform the same....i mean some of us do complain alot...and i dun mean to say all the complains are not geniune....what i'm trying to say here is..every singaporean have a part to play no matter which sector you are or even you are jobless...you can provide gd service and leave a gd impression for the delegates...but if they witness how some singaporean behave while in the restaurant or retail outlet...or anywhere...i think it will leave a even deeper impression on us...the only way we can achieve is that we all have a part to play regardless of what you working as...be it you are a customer, guest or service provider...we have to show respect to one another...

Singapore service is almost non-existent, as a Singaporean myself. I have been catching the rush hour train everyday, and those 'KIASU' people never fail to amaze me, by pushing their way in to the crowded train, to glaring at you when they accidentally bump into you when they're the one who is pushing. Customers' service is even worse, have you been to a high end boutique where all the staff look at you from head to toe, trying to figure out whether its worth it to serve you? unless you're a foreigner or a tourist of course.. Singapore still have to try harder to achieve the good service standard. Not all Singaporeans are like this though, Its only a minority of them...!! Happy National Day Singapore!

I believe that excellent service is never present in the first place. But maybe good service is still present. I don't believe that the service provider can go the extra mile unless they have known who is coming to their retail store in the first place.
The one who will provide good service should be from the hotel industry coz the hotel is fully booked for such major event. Training should have been provided for the staff to leave good impression for the delegates. Sincerely I believe that Singapore Service standard is not up to mark yet
