it could be both things, but you should look for help, we, women are very sensitive and sometimes just a silly thing makes us feel very down. i hope you have someone to talk to about it.

Your hormones are just out of wack. My grandma got like that when she was starting menopause (she's only in her 60's, but I've heard how she was back then through my mom who is now 50). The problem was low estrogen or something like that. I'm not sure how it effects mood, but I heard my g'ma was very depressed and moody until she got on some pill. You should definately talk to a doctor about this. It could be just your hormones and if your hormones come up fine, then the doc can give you an antidepressant, which will help.

You could be going through both -due to the stress levels you have, to find balance between the 2 can be difficult. Stress is a emotion due to the concept we feel as humans that we need to hold onto it. Upon society that says 'we cannot act out as its not proper' it doesn't leave alot of choices but can be worked through and in the end find that personal balance that our spirits long for. Thoughts about dying is also symbolic for 'change' this change can be addressed through transitional, which means out with the old and in with the new - again the 'lost balanced' is the focus.
Everything is positive and negative in this world, without the negative - lessons can't be learned and we as humans wouldn't recognize the positives. There are several methods on learning personal balance and relaxation and meditation out there on the net. What i provide is the same practice as i do in person and is in the url listing below. Self help tools so that 'you' can retake charge in your personal life and this way you can enjoy with what life is designed for you. In all aspects i feel that a 'new leaf' of life so to speak is all you need plus the 'know how' into regaining what surroundings have taken away.

Find someone that you can talk too, about how you are feeling especially since you feel like dying, It is important to get yourself to a medical clinic that can help you in your situation if you are going through pre menopause and have depression, it can be a deadly combination especially with the hormones on a roller coaster, one minute your up and the next minute your down.
Please seek help immediatly for your saftey and health.
