I've been dreaming a lot lately in my sleep (also, multiple ones in one night). Could this be due to the fact that I've been sleeping earlier and waking up earlier than usual?
I had a case of insomnia and recently, I learned to overcome it (without the use of pill, meds, etc. just all on my own). And since then, I've been having a lot more dreams. Some scary, some not. Sometimes it's both in one night.
Like last night for instance, I remember crying due to a dream (I can't remember what) but it was early in the morning so I didn't wake up (or it could have been a dream...) but then I woke remembering something else (not the crying dream) as my last dream.
(I used to sleep at 5-6 a.m. and wake at 2-3 p.m. Now I'm sleeping at around 1-2 a.m. and waking up around 10:30 a.m.)

Is this a good or bad thing?
And why is it happening?

Dreams are usually reflective on your day, little things you may have barely noticed may be picked up by your unconscious mind and surface in your dreams. You may be noticing these things more because of your previous insomnia, not getting enough rest usually deprives you of dreams and having them return can be unsettling and surface as nightmares. The site below is quite good, i read it when I get dreams I can't decipher myself. Sleep well.

Some things I know: (1) you probably aren't really having more dreams; you're just remembering more. (2) I've heard that waking up spontaneously as opposed to by an alarm clock or something, you are more likely to remember your dreams and I have verified this in my own experience. If you start keeping a dream diary, where you write down your dreams every morning as soon as you wake up and really try hard to remember them, it will cause you to remember more and more of them, so that it will seem like you are having more. Over time that process seems to create some kind of connection between your conscious and unconscious minds. It's really cool. It can eventually can lead to something called "lucid dreaming", where you can become aware that you're dreaming without waking up and consciously control your dreams to some extent. It's wild. I got into this in a big way several years ago. Of course, I don't do it at all any more. I'm always waking up by alarm these days :(

Having Lots Of Dreams

THey say that people need to be able to dream few dreams a night. So, part of it is that you're catching up on your dreams. But, if you've been having insomnia, there are also many things on your mind that your subconscience is trying to deal with.

Dreaming is healthy, but being mentally at peace is important too. Try to keep a diary or journal of discourses of various things on your mind and talk them over with someone you trust. You probably already know to exercise regularly to help with your sleep, yes?

When you dream, your subconscience mind is giving you information. As soon as you wake up, write down your dreams, everything you can remember (ie colors, numbers, emotions, people involved, places, any detail you can). Keep these in a dream journal by your bed. When you start reviewing this info. it can be very insightful.. I suppose that you have always dreamt, but now you are allowing your conscience mind to remember them.

dreams are your subconscious minds way of sorting your problems out. The dreams you have closer to the time that you wake up are issues that you are facing right now. You need to deal with your issues.

Also write down your dreams and you can then figure out if a pattern emerges.

It seems you're getting more restful sleep anyway. Dreams mean your getting your REM, which is a good thing, we need it to survive and not go insane.

It may be due to the following reasons: ( pl. note I am not a Medical professional but following time old traditions).

Before going to sleep, have adequate food. ( curd rice helps in getting good sleep at night).

Pray god before retiring for the day. Try to recollect what happened that whole day and recollect the good things and mistakes done.

Drink good amount of water before going to bed.

Find a proper place to sleep. Because some times improper place in the house will hinder good sleep. Most importantly never keep your head on the north side while sleeping. It is one of the scientific reason for disturbed sleep.

Try these and enjoy good sleep. Wish you good luck.
