7yrs ago my brother's wife accused him of attempted murder yet he was being threatened by her meth head airean brotherhood boyfriends and fled the country for his safety before knowing he was being charged with attempted murder. Now how do we know if the charges were dropped and how can he come back to the US? We're thinking the charges are dropped because I've checked that counties websites for wanted suspects & he isn't listed. My bet is the police figured out the drama was on the part of the meth heads in the foothills who threaten and scare the locals.

Was he actually charged and a warrant issued?

If so, you need to contact the issuing county to determine if there is an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Just because he isn't listed, doesn't mean the warrant is inactive.

Be advised, if the warrant is active you and your family can face charges of obstruction if the agency determines you knew where he was.

Not passing judgement here, sounds like he got the short end but.....running usually makes things worse, not better.

You can call the District Attorney's Office where the case was opened and check to see whether it is still open or not.

A lot of times, the DA will just drop the case because of insufficient evidence.

You need to speak to the department in which he would be listed as a fugitive from justice. The easiest way to do this is to contact the court in the city in which it happened. They have faster access to this information than most police dept do since they are the ones that issue those sorts of things.

You need to call down to the police department and ask whether there is a warrant. They can't arrest you through the phone. You could also call the courthouse - a judge actually issues the warrants - and see whether the case is still active.

Write a formal request to the police department or court where the case against your brother was filed to inform you if any case was filed thereat. It is recorded on the police blotter or case records.

I think the only way to tell is what you have already done. I guess you could call the magistrate for the county the offence was committed in and they would know for sure.
