Yeah, they're the same; another name for Old English (Englisc) is Anglo Saxon. There are many varieties/dialects of it, though (regardless of which name you choose :-).

Incidentally, OE is *quite* different from Present-Day English; it's interesting to look at Middle English (the language of Chaucer) to see the major in-between step. ME is very cool in its own right too, and *way* easier to learn.

Old English is the language of the Anglo-Saxon people. I know Norton Anthology of English Literature will help immensely.

Yes, linguistically they are the same, when you talk about Anglo saxon it is also referred as the people or tribe who came to Britain in her early years.
Old English or Anglosaxon it is the first form of English known.
Haven´t you read Beowulf?

You need to to go a Library and research...The Saxons came from Germany...The english were called Angles thus translating into English....Good Luck with the research
