They are the best little dogs. I can't say enough about them. My auntie has 2 that I keep threatening to kidnap. LOL

I liked the responses of the others who said go to the shelter. I think that if you intend to leave the dog outside all day by itself, you shouldn't get too small a dog. Also, don't know what climate you live in. Some dogs have too much hair for warm climates, and some are miserable in cold climates if they don't have enough hair. Another thing to think about is that if a dog never needs its hair cut, it will shed....be prepared for that. If you have a breed that needs trimmed, they rarely shed. The people at the shelter may be able to help you identify traits. Enjoy...dogs are great companions, but expect some work. Establish the boundaries right away, establish that you are in charge, not the dog.

Pekingese are as fluffy and as cute as any dog can get, and don't need much exercise and are good companions, but they don't like other people or other dogs very much. Plus, they can't be left outside whatsoever because they can easily develop breathing problems. I would say the a pug, bichon frise, toy poodle or Yorkshire terrier would be your best bet- or you can go to the American Kennel Club website for more info.

I have 2 sheltie collies and they are absolutely wonderful but dont like to be left alone. I think a good dog for you would be something like scottish terrier. They can either take attention or leave it. If you want a fluffy dog than i would suggest something like a yorkie or pekinese.

The dog that you described is a Chihuahua. The ultimate lap dog. Best companion. Best friend. Can be trained to a litter box. Small enought to take with you almost everywhere.

All dogs should be walked every day. For at least 30/45 minutes a day. If you can't handle that a dog isn't for you. Maybe a pet rock would be better.

maybe a bichon frise. i have researched them. they are very sweet, they love to be around people, they don't snap (like many small dogs do), aaand...they're very fluffy. they're also extremely affectionate. these are very popular dogs, so be sure to get one from a reputable breeder.

if that doesn't work, then search at your local animal shelter. they have a lot of affectionate dogs there too.
