Sorry about the party
Do this immediately. Have a small glass of milk. Sit down in a quite space (maybe in your bed propped up with some pillows). Read a few chapters of a book. Put down the book, set your alarm for the morning, turn off the light, and then turn the clock so you cannot see what time it is if you do wake up again. Start going to bed at the same time every night and getting up at the same time every morning and your body will regulate itself to the correct sleep pattern. Good night and good luck. (PS: Sitting in front of a computer or a television will over stimulate your mind before you go to bed).

Try these suggestions- one of them might help.
1) Turn out the light and rest in your most comfortable position. Then start counting backwards from 100 to 1. If you get lost, pick-up where you think that you left off. When you finish the countdown, start over. Many people fall asleep in their 3rd or 4th countdown.
2) Listen to one of your favorite CD's - nothing too loud or heavy. Try to "sing along" in your mind as you listen to it. You might be asleep by the 4th or 5th song.
3) Replay a movie, TV show or book in your mind. Silently tell yourself everything that happened exactly as it happened in the movie / show / book. Try to include some of the dialogue if you can. After a short time, you may well drift off to sleep.
4) Send me an IM with your phone number and I will hypnotize you over the telephone so you can sleep. (I am not a pervert and I would not take advantage of you in any way)
I hope that one or more of these techniques help you get some sleep.
All the best to you!

Join the club. It usually helps for you to be in a very dark room to go to sleep. Of course, I've been up until like 4:00 for the past three or four days. I've been sleeping most of the morning and afternoon, though, so it's not so bad. I'll have to get back on track, because the new semester starts in a week or so. Good night!

Oh, I know. My daughter has to get up in three hours for her very first day of her brand new job (and drive 90 minutes to their corporate office for her new-hire paperwork), and she is so nervous she is walking the floors. Soooooo, I can't sleep!

I'm procrastinating so I can't sleep however, if you really want to fall asleep, crack open a textbook and start reading it on your bed, trust me you'll fall asleep in minutes :) I already have which is why I'm losing time right now.

First of all, you should turn off your computer and any other things (like tv or something) it doesn't help you fall asleep. most people find it comforting to drink some hot tea or some other watm drink. basically just try getting everything quiet and then close your eyes and try to fall asleep

Take a sleeping pill. Advil works as one on some people (like me).
