What ever happened to/with the "contract with America"?

I'm wondering especially where are those Republicans who pledged term limits of a maximum of 12 years in the House of Representatives and the Senate.

It's been 12 years now since 1994 when this Constitutional Amendment was proposed (and defeated). In all good conscience, I suppose all those Republicans who supported the Contract are stepping down this year, right?

Of course, they still want fresh new ideas from well-qualified new representatives, who will not have built up a wall around themselves and the lobbyists who support them. Well, don't they?

It was a stupid campaign slogan used to get stupid people to vote for Republicans running for congress. Guess what it worked and the Republicans took over Congress in 1994 (remember Newt Gingrich) then we got six years of conservatives trying to get Bill Clinton's head on a stick and government shutdowns.

Then the same stupid/ignorant/under-educated Americans that swallowed the "contract on America" tripe elected George Bush...twice...and here we are.

Blame it on the morons in Dumbfuckistan (the red states in the middle of the country)

The copies were pulverized and used as butt wipe on capital hill. Too bad they had some good ideas. Gingrich will be talking about it again when he runs in 08.
