We all know that some people talk a lot and some don't. Why do guys always complain that it is women? I've gone on dates with shy guys that if I wasn't talking there would of been no conversation at all. What is your thought on the subject?

Don't know about other guys, but I think too much. I try not to think so much and just listen, because I find that women really appreciate men who will just listen unconditionally and acknowledge the wisdom and intelligence of the feminine mind. Also, silence can be romantic, if romance fills the space. Silence can be very intimate. You may have a lot more depth than some of the guys you are experiencing though.

They've statistically proven that women, on average, use more words than men do. That's just the way we communicate. Men communicate more non-verbally. It's just the way it goes.

But as with all these 'battle of the sexes' type issues, I still believe there is more variation within the sexes than between the sexes. For example, there are some shy women and some really verbose men, so you can't generalise too much.

Guys are nervous that we will say the wrong thing---because we tend to a lot. Stereotypically, women are more sensitive to words, and this is what keeps some men at a distance conversationally. With time, and comfort, comes stimulating words between a man and a woman, and if only really takes a little encouragement.

Basically it comes down to how we are "wired".

Men, generally, concentrate on one thing at a time. While women can have multiple thoughts on multiple subjects simultaneously.

The reason most men will say that women talk to much is because some women will talk to her husband/boyfriend while he is focused on something else (usually a ball game).

This upsets us because we're focused on something we enjoy and feel as though the woman is "intruding" on our time because she feels the need to talk.

Please don't misunderstand, it's not that men DON'T want to talk to women, it's just that we don't want to talk at THAT particular moment. We will be happy to discuss anything you'd like . . . AFTER THE GAME! :)

You are right on the money about this...

Not all guys are shy and not all gals are talkative. Generalization is a dangerous assumption.

It is not all men, simply those who refuse to be accountable and responsible for their own action, word, deed & behaviour. You cannot take the responsibility for others inability to communicate or articulate, thats on them not you. If when you date they are not what you want then move on. Men usually eliminate theirselves anyway. The key is know what you want and do not settle for less.

It's because guys generally don't talk much, at least while on a date. Maybe they're just uncomfortable, or maybe they don't know what to talk about, or maybe they're just the silent type.

i think it really depends on the topic of the conversation. if you are truly interested in getting to know a guy, then you should ask him questions about his interests and i think he'd be more than happy to share his thoughts with you.

and why is that everytime I am at my girlfriend's parents house her mother always says to me, "Why don't you go take a poo and empty your stomach", to which her father always repsonds, "yeee haawwww ya clown sailor".
but I have to say that if a woman is hot I don't care if she's talking or not, let's just get to shagging...unless she's a sex talker/screamer...some of those are annoying
