It is okay for a quick blow (eg one or two attempts to clear the nose, while facing away from the table). But to carry on like that is disgusting. And to look at the results??? Puh-leeze!
Unfortunately, some people cannot get it into their thick skulls that their behaviour is disturbing/upsetting/vomit-making to others. I had a friend who used to use a toothpick at the table after dining, and she never saw a problem with it either. She thought that I was intolerant and you may find the same. Which will mean the solution may be to avoid dining out with your friend, as she simply won't stop. Sad but true.

I do have to blow my nose on the table if I eaten spicy or hot stuffy, but I cannot help it.. of cos if I can curb it.. I will try not to... however.. all my frens have no problem w me blowing my nose.. cos I dun do it very long .. just a quick blow and then that's it... If i really need to blow it out.. I will go to the ladies.... maybe you can speak to your fren in this that it is rude and not nice when both of you are in a resturant. One fren did tell me that it is not nice looking when I blow my nose on the dinner table.. and I do take the advice... hope this helps.

Blowing or sneezing??? I have allergies, and sometimes, without warning, I will sneeze a mighty sneeze which also blows out everything in my nose. I can't help it in those situations, but if I know I have to blow my nose, and I have enough time to make it to the bathroom, then I goooooooo.
If you friend blows for five minutes, it sounds like she needs to see a doctor. She might have allergies, or a cold. Either way she is probably feeling miserable, and needs either Allergy meds or Cold meds.
And yes, constant honking at a public dinner table is in poor taste, as well as being unhealthy to all around her. If she is sick, she is blowing out germs into the air...the air we, the dining public, inhale and bring into our bodies.
Grin. If polite behavior doesn't convince her to stop, then tell her the guy of her dreams might be seated at the table or booth next to her. He almost gets up to introduce himself, but gets turned off by her honking in public, and thus she misses her Mr Right..
Good luck with her :)

Ew, that's obscene. No, it is totally NOT alright! It is incredibly rude, and insulting to the people around you, never mind the ones at your table! In polite society, even when you're not at the table, you leave the room to blow your nose. Either go outside or to the restroom.

On certain unexpected occasions, it's best to blow one's nose as opposed to allowing it to drip. But as a rule, one should retire to the restroom. In a perfect world, we'd always make it there, but I have to say that I have, on occasion, found it immediately necessary to blow one quick time. To continue is really thoughtless and obnoxious. To look at the results is unforgiveable...I would have to leave.

Blowing your nose is one thing, examining your snot and going on for five minutes is completely different. If she really has to blow that bad, she should go to the washroom and take care of it or have some freakin wasabi and hot sauce to clear out her sinuses.

Many people, including me, think it's way totally gross to blow your nose at the table, even at home. You are right for asking her to go to the bathroom, because although she doesn't think it's disgusting to blow her nose at the table, other people might think it is. =)

relies upon on the eating position. i have considered human beings frisking one yet another at some eating places even as at others you may be kicked out for undesirable behaviour. i wager blowing your nostril could be forgiven see you later because it truly is carried out with a aspect of discression.
