a parakeet will click its tongue when it wants to play, click its beak when its threatened or protecting something.
the sound is a result of a bird scraping the lower mandible against the upper mandible, grinding its beak when it feels content and is about to sleep or relax.

hey! my new bird does that too! Yes parakeets do it when they feel content and happy and safe so that means she's settled pretty much in her new home. i also heard that this action keeps the budgie's beak sharp for cracking seeds but im not too sure if its ture or not. Its so cute when they grind ther beak because the little feathers around the beak buff up making her look like she has a moustache. haha =]

Does she have a stone in her cage to file down her beak on? Her beak could be getting out of wack.
She could be learning the noise from something near by too. Parakeets will mimic sounds around them, some even learn to speak in a way. Mine learned the sound our hose makes when you turn it on outside. Unfortunately she would make the squeaking noise at 5 in the morning, really loud!

yeppers! Your darling was wonderfully content! My conures will do this when they're happy and settling in for the night. Not only is it a sign of happiness, it helps wear down the beak.
Congratulations on your new bird! I'm sure your parakeet will keep you happy for years to come :) .

that's common. a thanks to make certain if she has eaten is to regularly placed a small volume of food in her bowl alongside with sparkling culmination & greens and then go back an hour later to make certain if something has been disturbed. If it hasn't, then the sparkling fruit & greens will seem slightly dry, and each and everything will seem as you left it. What your fowl is doing is hard to describe, yet certainly it means that she is feeling mushy & calm. maximum due it before mattress, notwithstanding many do it in the course of the day besides. one in all my birds does it more effective than the others, that's only a thanks to expose that they are content cloth, which means she probable became finished from ingesting and became satisfied. =]
