I do not consider myself pagan or part of any religion for that matter, but i just started to read about wicca and i was wondering.......... Are the rituals and spells you perform effective?

I know that wiccans only use spells for good most of them any way. I know that magick is not the "movie" stuff you see.

Yes, they are effective. They help me immensely!

Wicca is an earth centered religion that worships the forgotten Gods/Goddesses of Christianity. Wicca is not Evil in any way! We do not even believe in the devil! The spells that you refer to are nothing asking for something GOOD, similar to prayers in Christianity, only centered around the Earth. No, we are not all women, there are many men, yes straight ones, too, that are Wiccan. No, we do not have orgies and kill children. We believe in the three-fold law which is harm none, do as you will, but remember that you get what you give three-fold, good or bad.

You are treading some pretty touchy waters out here in YahooAnswerLand!

Rituals and spells are, for best results, performed by yourself and not some scam artist who asks you for money. Effective they are, but stay away from curses and manipulative love spells. (You'll know'em when you see'em!) They have a way of backfiring in ways you cannot even imagine!

So forget that spell that promises to reel in a specific person. Stick to general attraction for the time being.

Start off small, like a dream pillow, or make a dream catcher, or something to strengthen your intuition, then you will be better prepared to know what is right for you.

There are confidence and self esteem charms that are really quite lovely, and healing spells, too.

Remember, "an' it harm none, do what thou wilt." This includes yourself, too. Keep yourself from harming others with magick, and you are not hurting yourself either.

Additionally, wonders have been worked though the power of prayer. Many "little old lady" prayer groups can be just as effective as a coven.

You can pray for anyone, anytime, but you need permission to perform magick on someone for it to be considered not manipulative.

I'm afraid you will need to be a bit more clear on what you mean by 'effective'.Say I do a spell for peace.A spell is roughly the equivalent of praying. By doing that spell, I've allowed myself to be in a receptive mindset for relaxation, and am able to feel more in control of a situation that I can affect change towards creating a more peaceful circumstance. So if that's your definition of effective, then, yes, by all means, it is very effective. As for some of the other stuff I've done.Yes.Remarkably more so.But I don't feel the need to dicuss that,if it's all the same to you.

the spells have the same effect as prayer. it's basically power of suggestion. if you believe in something enough it will come true. or at least it will come true for you. wicca is a very interesting religion. check it out. there's a lot more to it than 'rituals' and 'spells'.

Intent and concentration are the keys to a sucsessful ritual or spell.
But remember the law of the Three fold return. that which you do unto others will be returned to you threefold.

hello friend,

I have studied ,many different Religions, including Wicca, before I turned my life over to Christ.
By experience I can say , Pick up a Bible read about the God of Heaven. You will find the power of a true Christian is far more than that of any Wicca or any other. If you would to learn more please see my ministries web site at www.angelsharbor.com , maybe I can help you. You will find me at the Pastors desk or using the contact page.

For what I use them for, in general yes, they are.

I don't do a lot of spellwork - my rituals are ways to honor the God and Goddess, and to help attune myself with the world around me. In that context, yes they are very effective.

On the rare times that I've done spellwork, yes, some of them (but not all) have been effective.

From what some of my old friends had told me when I was still in Florida, the few that they had tried were effective, but I'm not really sure which ones they had preformed ~~;;; sorry about the little to no help...

Wicca is a belief, a religion. You must study, find faith and believe, just like any other religion. No one can answer your question, except you. (I respectfully defer to others who know more on the subject than I do!)
