I read all the answers above and, except for one, they seemed all very good. There is a completely different view on this though, I heard an interview with a British historian who focus his work on empires and he said that a comom mistake is trying to guess what country will succeed the US as the empire ruler, or superpower. According to him, history does not teach that a empire must fall to another one and the Roman Empire is an example of what he thinks is most likely to happen to the US empire and the world in the next centuries.
There would be a self determined retraction of the US empire as its foreign policy fails and brings less and less rewards to it, it would turn itself in and try to deal with its own problems. This would leave a power vacuum that, he believes, there would be no country ready to fulfill on a global level, leaving several regional empires. He equates this to what happened to the Roman Empire that slowly diminished as it loss its influence and was invaded not by another country, but by unorganised barbarians, who eventually made it to Rome. Could this be similar to the immigration waves that are constantly hitting the US?
To the none US residents like myself, this slow and painful death of the empire would also not be a positive experience either because more likely than not, the lack of a global network of comerce, culture and power influence means a "wild" wasteland where everything is for grabs. Could this be similar to the attempts of expanding influence of Venezuela's Chaves and China's theats and invasions of neighboring countries? What would happen between India and Pakistan if there was no longer an international community to pressure for some understanding?
So the future is very bleak no matter where you are.

I hope not, there should be a balance of power, no superpower to dictate and interfere with other nation's domestic problems. But in reality, I think America still enjoys that distinction, although, other countries like China and other European countries are fast catching up. I just hope that the quest for the ultimate superpower will only yield good results for the next generation. They should never commit the same mistake and they should use their powers for the good of the people and for the restoration of world peace.

I hate to burst your bubble, but America is not a global superpower even today.
The age of the superpower ended when the Soviet Union fell. Yes, I know that the PNAC people published their little manifesto insisting that the US is now the sole big boy on the block, but they're as wrong about that as they are about almost everything else.
The fall of the Soviet empire was instructive. It carried with it exactly how to topple a superpower--get it to overspend on munitions and then overreach seeking power in the middle east.
Guess what?

According to a great economist who's predictions have all turned out to be right until now the next superpowers will be China, Malaysia and japan in 20 years time, they will keep it for 60 to 70 years and then lose it to the middle-Eastern countries and India.

Your question implies that there will still be life on this planet in 100 years, however there is no way to know if that will even be the case. My assumption is that more and more smaller countries continue to obtain WMDs until one of them is stupid enough to use it, then all hell breaks loose. If that's the case, there will probably be so much destruction, there won't be a global superpower.

America has not really been a superpower for a long time. i can't remember the last war we won, all we are good at is helping corrupt countries like Israel, and we allow china to walk all over us. that's not my idea of a superpower. our government seems to work against the people not for.

America, If a country tries to take us down by invading US soil, there going to get up to 16000 of our Nukes blown into their countries biggest cities. And if somehow a country succeeds(Which they wont) the world is going to relize they made a mistake when the US fires of all of its WMD at its enemies before the fall killing millions if not billions.
Plus America is allied w/ some of the strongest countries in the world and has the best military and the best Tech. and knowledge of WMD..It would be increidbly stupid for someone to try and invade America.
