My computer won't start. It has a message: Windows could not start because the folllowing file is missing or corrupt:
\Windows\System32\Config\System

How do I fix this? Can I burn this file from the internet or something?

You could copy the file off another PC with a similar Windows version (You didn't specify which windows version you have). You would probably also need a boot disk or the installation cd to boot to the command prompt where you just do a copy command: copy X:\(path to the file) C:\(Path to the missing file). 'X' represents where your saved file resides, could be A:\ or D:\ or any other drive where you saved the file. Try this first!

Alternatively, if you have the installation disk, assuming it's WinXp you can do a repair. Just run the installation disk, and when you get to the screen where you choose between a clean install or do a repair, just press 'R'. This will only replace Windows without tampering with your saved data or settings. I hope this helps.

if your computer won't start then how did you get here? and that file is your system file... in other words... it's the file that runs your computer basically, and the only way to replace it is to update your version of windows..
