that is early
My daugther could stand up against things and started walking at 7 months - she could walk unsupported at 9 months. Her twin sister walked unsupported at 10 months.
Thye both crawled at 5 months.
I wouldn't let that post about "crucial crawling stage" worry me - I never crawled, my mom says, and that didn't give problems - besides if the kid want to stand and walk-how on earth are you going to stop them - let kids develope in their own way, when they are ready, they will do stuff.

That is a little early, but I wouldn't go crazy over it. My concern would be if your baby was crawling very well and very far BEFORE he started walking. Pediatricians will tell you that it is developmentally crucial that babies do not walk before they are crawling well, as this can affect their large motor skills down the road. If your baby is healthy, and happy, then just enjoy him or her and cherish the time while he is little. Don't get caught up in stats, and fuss over how early or late they get to milestones.
Every baby is different and will reach milestones at different times, that does not make one baby better or smarter than another. My first 3 kids walked at 12 months, and the fourth at 11 months. They are all healthy, and are good at different things. Don't try to compare with others - just love and enjoy!

My friends child was very young as well I am not sure what age the baby was as I was not there friend at the time but I am sure they said 6 mths old. you will probably find that while your baby walked at a young age that he/she will do something else a little behind in age. They don't take into account to the age of a baby does things to find a genius but it could mean and I mean could mean the baby may be a genius or just a early walker

well now it's alittle too late to put your son in the guinness world records, you would have to have a video to prove it and about 5 people that have seen him walking at 6 months and 1 wk old! no one will believe you now!
