Eh, we have a tendency to re-interpret the bible based on social acceptability.
I was reading just last night, a passage that said God said to take your prisoners of war (and thier families) and make them your bondservants, and they will be your property and your children's inheritance. Slavery. But we don't do that, do we? Not socailly acceptable anymore.
When something like that doesn't work anymore, we re-interpret the bible and say "oh, it only applied to that particular situation" or some other rationalization.
Give it 10 or 20 years (maybe not even that long)....and most churches will be accepting homosexuals. Not all, but most.

Besides, what do you care? You're not homosexual, right? So your place in heaven is secure....isn't it?

As for theists, some will say that the homosexual lifestyle is okay because they don't wanna take the heat from gays and people who say gay is fine. It's easier to agree than to state the truth and say that yes, homosexuality is a sin. It's easier to hide.

For those who don't care about religion, I can't accurately answer for them because I don't know what they think. I can only guess, and the guess might be wrong. I'll guess anyway, but I might be wrong, okay?

I think non-believers accept the homosexual lifestyle as legitimate because they think that society has evolved, which it has, so it doesn't need the old rules. They're right on that point, but you know, there been newer rules given to mankind since Leviticus. There's the NT, the Qur'an and hadith, and the Baha'i scriptures. I don't ever recall anything in the NT about homosexuality, but in the Qur'an and hadith and Baha'i scriptures, all of it says that homosexuality is a sin.

Okay, so there are new rules. Then why don't non-believers follow them? Again, this is a guess, okay? I think it's because religion isn't important to them, so it wouldn't matter if there was a brand spanking new holy book from God, Copyright 2006, they wouldn't care. This seems to me like arrogance, "I'm smarter than God. God doesn't know best, I do. I'm #1." Hey, I could be wrong, but it to be extreme arrogance, whether or not they're aware of it.

Read chapters 18 & 19 of Genesis & you'll see its talking about homosexuality. For which God destroyed Sodom & Gomorrah!
In the New Testament read Rom. chapter 1. Read verses 21-26. Also read verses 26 & 27. In verses 28 -32 In says they were turned over to a debased mind, filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality , & also speaks of those who approve of others who practice such things in verse 32.
It's very clear its an abomination to God.
The reason people insist it's ok is because they want to continue in their sins. They think if a church or preacher say it's ok thats enough! The problem is they're going to face God in the judgement & He says that it's not ok! It would be better not to bring God into it than to call Him a liar! He has not changed. Read Hebrews 13:8

Not everyone believes in the same God you do, for one. Also adultery, murdering, suicide, and lying (I could go on and on) are sins. People have sinned since the beginning of time and will do so until the end. Religious text (the Bible, Quran, Torah, etc) clearly states what man should do, and still we don't obey. How can we point fingers at homosexuals when we sin everday. Have Mercy!

Because it's hard to take the "abomination" thing seriously when it's mixed in with a bunch of other rules about shellfish and animal sacrifices and who should be put to death for adultery, which Christians seem to conveniently overlook when selectively quoting Leviticus.

Besides, not everyone believes in your God, so not everyone is bound by your God's rules. And you have no right to force them to live by your religious doctrine, unless you want to be subject to the rules of someone else's religion, in which case there are some Muslims out there who probably want to talk to you about that burka thing.

Although God stated that this is an Abomination, he didn't say that fornication and other forms of sin were less evil. Lets not throw stones. "Thou shalt not munch carpet" & "Thou shalt not puff peter" are not listed in the ten commandments. They are lesser sins than Murder, Stealing, Covetousness, Etc. I would pray that all homos find the true path of their own free will. With that in mind, pay respect to others and appreciate all of God's children. They have much to contribute to the world.

well because a lot of people don't believe in God. And even those who do believe in God do not follow the bible literally and sometimes just very selectively for whatever suits their needs.

Homosexuality exists in nature. And if you are a non-believer then you don't believe in sin, so what's the problem?

It is ok for me, because I don't believe in God and religion. I don't think love knows gender, or that it matters. If there was a God, that being certainly wouldn't put our human, man-made limitations on love.

1. God didn't state ANYTHING. The bible is written by the hands of MEN.
2. Many animals are homosexual and pair with their homosexual partners for life.
3. There is nothing wrong with loving someone.

why do ppl follow a piece of literature about God that was written by mere men???Just because it is stated in the bible that homosexuality is wrong does not mean that God believes that.
