your monitor is plugged into your video card. The video card is plugged into an expansion slot in the motherboard. It's either an agp slot or a pci express slot. You can see your video card in the device manager. Go to start > control panel > system > hardware > device manager and look for your video card.

Download the Belarc Advisor, it's free for personal use, and it will tell you more than you ever wanted to know about your computer. If you have a video card in there, it will tell you about it.

If you are putting a card into a computer that does not already have one, there is usually one slot at the end of a row of PCI card slots that is not like the others. It is probably longer, and it may have a latch on the back end to help hold the card in. If terribly confused, check the manual for the motherboard or the website of the computer manufacturer.

You can find the video card by looking at My Computer -> properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> under Display Adapters.

To know where it is in the PC, you need to look back of your pc where you connected the Monitor. Open your CPU Case, and you can see it inside in its slot.
