The Scripture is strangely silent about this universal issue, while not shy about all sorts of other sexual situations and perversions... in great detail concerning sex with animals, etc. Yet the bible says nothing about masturbation. This is odd, don't you think?
To be sure, it is clear from Scripture that illicit sexual fantasies are forbidden, and this is a significant issue with masturbation.
Matt 5:28-29 (NIV) [Jesus:] "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell."

The answer in Chrisitianity generally focuses not only on the action but the reason for the action. Masterbation in and of itself is not a sin. Wanting sexual desires fullfilled by another human being outside of marriage would be considered sinful.
So turning to your thought life during the scene, it becomes important to discern between masterbation for personal pleasure verses masterbation because you're dreaming of being with some woman or man.

I've heard from biblical scholars that it is not a sin, but I seem to remember reading a passage somewhere that said a person is unclean for the rest of the day (whatever that means) . . . I don't remember. I don't believe that God looks at these kinds of details in our lives that much. I believe he looks at the big picture.
According to many biblical scholars, God gave us reason so that we can make these kinds of decisionson our own. Reason would say that masterbating is ok because it causes harm to no one. Reason says that it is much healthier way to express yourself sexually this way than a lot of other more sinful activities.
So just do it in private and enjoy yourself. Don't feel guilty, it's natural. Don't ask anyone for advice, just do what feels natural.

Masturbation is perfectly normal and healthy!! Studies show that you will live longer if you masturbate! It is definately not a sin and that is coming from a saved christian woman. It is something that A)will not get anybody pregnant and B) won't result in getting disease. Don't be ashamed of yourself! God is not dissapointed in you! He loves you no matter what and I know you know that. To answer your question...I don't believe in the Bible that there is anythiing saying masturbation is a sin. Also, thinking of a pretty girl or whatever you may think of is not a sin! They are just thoughts and you are experimenting with something that is very harmless so just enjoy it..it's your body!

I may not be a full blown, all out Christian, but I do believe in God. I have not heard that it is a sin to masturbate... I do know that it is a sin to have pre-marital sex, so if this is the was that keeps you from that, then I think that it would be a good thing... Do you understand where I am coming from??? I know it is hard to talk to people that you "actually" know about stuff like this, but your youth pastor may be able to help you with alot of your confusion... look into it, and good luck finding your answer!!!

According to religion, the mere thought of sex out of wedlock is a sin. But so I hear we were created and were even known that we were going to make sins and commit unjust acts and thoughts.. but anyway.. hey adam and eve had to do something to create and populate the rest of the world. (i dont fully agree with this but this is what the book likes us to believe.) So whats good for the goose is good for the gander.. Wack it man.. make sure to roll it and not pull it.. hahaha.. masterbation is common place. dont let anyone tell you otherwise.. and those who say they dont or havent LIE. I dont care.. all you people that wanna say you havent.. i am sure you will.. but just remember when you were washing your self there a lil longer then you normally do or something.. its nature of the beast.. get over it.. masterbation is NOT dirty.. its common.. :P

My priest gave our Confirmation class a "list" of sins. I didn't see masturbation on it, or maybe I just ignored it. Either way, I don't think its a sin. It can keep you from being promiscuous, which I would think is considered a bigger sin. Do what feels right. No pun intended.

yes its a sin! Think of the 10 commandments... Though shalt no covet thy neighbors wife. Lust is a sin. if you imagine something of that nature it is if you have physically done it in the eyes of the Lord. Good luck and wait until you get older/married before you experiment with sex.
