The cat followed me home and she turned out to be knocked up. I kept her as she went through this ordeal. I purchased a litter box that she used. Now that she has had the kittens she has lost all interest in the darn box and craps on my floor,I send the tramp outside but now I have to worry about fleas. Any cay lovers out there please help or she is on her way out the door.

keep the klittens inside and when you take them outside keep and eye on them. If you don't want to keep all of them PLEASE DO NOT take them to the shelter because they will not garuntee you all the cats will not be put dont and will not stay healthy. Put an ad on the local newspaper so you can actually meet the people you sell them to.

For the fleas I recommend frontline. It is just once a month and it protects against fleas and ticks. As for her not wanting to go to in the litter box, there can be many reasons, she may not want to use the litter box because of the brand (sometimes the scent is too strong), or having to share the box (there should be a litter box for every two cats), how often the box is cleaned (it should be cleaned once a day) or it could be the type of litter box (some cats don’t like to use covered boxes because it holds in the smell). It may even have to do with her pregnancy. See if changing the litter may help if not then you may want to talk to a vet.

You have some wonderful advice, many of which I would reiterate, such as possibility of the behavioral cause coming from sharing the litter box; or if it gets too dirty for her; and taking her to the vet is a MUST. I might expound on the veterinary need: there could truly be a medical problem that needs to be addressed. Also, she could be stressed out, in general.
Do you still have the kittens? If not, she could be having separation anxiety. If you still have them, is she a good mother? If she is a really young mother (or maybe a really older mother), she may have a hard time adjusting to that role....it happens, though I would imagine rarely!! If she is already in heat again, that could cause stress related behaviors, especially if she is being kept indoors and can't get to a male cat!! I went through same scenario as you, taking in an adult pregnant cat. She had been SO used to living outdoors, that she never ever got used to a litter box. I have to let her in and out, else she does what your cat does. I have learned her body language to watch for, so that I can generally offer her the outdoors before an accident happens. You may simply be in that same boat....but you can make it work. Discuss all of the above with the vet, though, by all means.

Get her some flea treatment from the vets and make sure the litter box is cleaned every day especially since she is sharing it now. You might want to take her to the vet for a check up also. She is not doing this to anger you.

My cat goes outside all the time and has never had fleas. Does she share the litter box with her kittens? Some cats won't share and prefer to have their own litter box.

Call your local vet. And be sure to get some flea stuff for her as well as heartworm stuff if you're going to put her outside. But definitely talk to a vet.
