Do they ever!! I charge my students every time they use the word "like" extra-grammatically!! It's amazing how much better they speak now!!! Who started that wretched trend anyway!!!

Like I am so tired of that word. Like do you understand what like I am saying. Get my point! It's so annoying hearing it all the time. YES!! People use that word way to much. I guess there short on vocabulary. It ain't cool no more. Frankly it is old.

IMHO The word people truly overuse is "GOT". It is the past tense of "to get", but people use it for a wide range of meanings. For instance: I got sick; meaning I "became" sick. Or: I got new shoes; meaning "bought", or "purchased". How about "Got milk?" Sure, the commercial just wouldn't be the same saying "Have milk?" The worst overuse is probably using got in addition to have. "I've got to go shopping" is actually saying "I have got to go shopping", but "I have to go shopping" means the same thing.
None of these uses is wrong. You simply sound repetitive. Try thinking of a more specific word to use. You will sound smarter.

i use it when im doing an impression or someone else that does, like a very peppy person. or otherwise when i cant think straight when i get hyper. i dont mean to, but im so excited and wide awake with energy i dont even think to use my usual complicated choice of words. i just find the easiest words to explain myself cuz i start talking so fast.

yes! i think people use it about,250 times a day!
this is a conversation i had once with this girl named june (fake conversation),
june:`like ok, like i was sitting by this boy i like, so like i like went up to him, and like asked him if he liked me, so then he said i like you so we both like eatchother!!
lol... that is 8 likes!!
