Yes Jesus was a Jew

(m)

Of course, Jesus was a Jew. He was born of a Jewish mother, in Galilee, a Jewish part of the world. All of his friends, associates, colleagues, disciples, all of them were Jews. He regularly worshipped in Jewish communal worship, what we call synagogues. He preached from Jewish text, from the Bible. He celebrated the Jewish festivals. He went on pilgrimage to the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem where he was under the authority of priests.... He lived, was born, lived, died, taught as a Jew. This is obvious to any casual reader of the gospel text. What's striking is not so much that he was a Jew but that the gospels make no pretense that he wasn't. The gospels have no sense yet that Jesus was anything other than a Jew. The gospels don't even have a sense that he came to found a new religion, an idea completely foreign to all the gospel text, and completely foreign to Paul. That is an idea which comes about only later. So, to say that he was a Jew is saying a truism, is simply stating an idea that is so obvious on the face of it, one wonders it even needs to be said. But, of course, it does need to be said because we all know what happens later in the story, where it turns out that Christianity becomes something other than Judaism and as a result, Jesus in retrospect is seen not as a Jew, but as something else, as a founder of Christianity. But, of course, he was a Jew.

According to Islam, Jesus was a prophet born as a Jew, for the Jews but unfortunately the Jews didn't accept him and even tried to crucify him(he was not crucified, but lifted away by the Lord and will reappear on the earth by God's will and Jesus will rule upon the Earth according to the final testament; The Qur'an).

An interesting question.

On the surface Jesus was a Jew. He followed Jewish culture for the most part. But, He was not contained by the law, because He understood the Word. He was the Word. He was God. By understanding how he interpreted the law, we can understand much more about God. There is more to that then I can ever hope to write.

The linage or family line of Jesus Christ was Jewish and it is from the Jews that Jesus came so yes he was a Jew. It was predetermined that He was to come from that linage as the Jews were God's chosen people. Jesus was however flesh, as being born from a women, however from the seed of the Holy Spirit (God Himself) and not from the sperm of an earthly father. Still the fleshly line of Christ was from Jewish decedents. We become spiritual Jews by accepting the sacrifice of Christ, on the cross, and belief in Him. Spiritual Jews as in Children of God also just as the Jews are God's chosen people.

No.
Jesus was NOT a Jew.
Do not listen to ignorance.
Jesus was God in the flesh.
If He was a Jew then all Gentiles would be lost...and if He was a Gentile all Jews would be lost.
He had not a drop of Mary's blood in Him.
He was concieved of the Holy Ghost.
He was sinless and perfect and had no sinner's blood in Him.
He was made a human man so He could suffer and die.
He was sinless but He became sin for our sakes.

Just thought I would say to truebeliver_777 maybe you should read the bible a little more. I am an atheist and I know the bible better than the stupid crap you spout. He was born by mortal man whether you like it or not, Mary his mother was hebrew (Jewish). Just for a reality check. Oh and for all you skeptics Jesus of Nazareth was a real person in history. That is a historical fact. Read something once in a while.

The lineage from Adam to Joseph is cited twice in the gospels. To be descended from Abraham would classify him as Hebrew, but Judah is also in the bloodline, making him a member of the Tribe of Judah, not generically "Isrealitish" or from the Ten Northern Tribes. Jews currently classify themselves based upon their bloodline of Judah, which includes the Trbes of Judah, Benjamin and partially of Levi. Nevertheless, the founder of what is now known as Christianity was intended to be a reformation of Judiasm of the era, and Jesus (Yeshu- his birth name) was definitely Jewish by birth, regardless of how others view his deity or lack thereof.

Jesus was indeed, of Jewish descent because of his mother Mary. He was also 100% God and 100% Man. You say that equals 200%, yes? Jesus was both God in the Flesh and a Man because he had to suffer all the trials and tribulations normal people today would have faced.
