Is their abuse of drugs affecting your business productivity? Are you doing this as reactive or proactive?

If you said yes and reactive to the two questions above, then you have all the ammo you need to pink slip someone. If you said no and proactive, you may have a lawsuit on your hands should you issue out the pink slip.

If it's corporate policy, perhaps the procedures are outlined as well. I'd consult your handbook before taking any action... maybe it's not even your responsibility... perhaps it falls to Human Resources or the head of the department.
