I would recommend neutering an outdoor male cat. First of all it would help prevent unwanted kittens being brought into the world (this should not just be the girl's responsibility). Secondly, it should prevent your cat from getting beaten up during mating season.

It's minor surgery, and it's fairy cheap to do. By the way, it takes about a month for the testosterone to get out of his system.

All outdoor cats should be neutered or spayed. No exceptions. Show cats & breeding cats should not be let outdoors.

Absolutely. Otherwise he will mark the nneighbors' property (which will make them mad at you) and contribute to the overpopulation of unwanted kittens. A neutered tom is less likely to get into fights (meaning fewer expensive bills to treat abscesses and less chance of getting FIV) and will probably hang around home more.

Yes. That way he won't be contributing to the major pet overpopulation problem. Plus it will reduce or elimate the chance of him getting certain cancers. And it won't affect his mousing abilities, make him fat, or any of those other myths about neutering cats.
