Lately I have been having a terrible time getting to sleep! I usually finnally fall asleep at like, one AM! Please help! Too young to take sleeping pills, and I've tried it all! Counting sheep, you name it! What should I do? Schools starting soon, and I don't want an off sleeping schedule!

I think everyone has had this problem a lot this summer.

Start going to bed an hour or so earlier.
Drink Milk BEFORE going to bed
Try eating a banana before bed
Take a shower.
Meditate or Yoga

Do not have anything with caffeine in it past 7 o'clock. Go to bed at the same time every night. Read for at least a half and hour before you go to bed and, sometimes, a glass of milk will help (don't put chocolate in it because the sugar will keep you awake). Make a routine and stick to it. Also, turn your clock so you cannot see if if you do wake up. I don't understand why people do this? What do you care what time it is? All you care about is getting good sleep? Getting up at at the same time and going to bed at the same time will teach your brain what you want it to do.

Try drinking warm milk(this really works)
Think of the good times you've had in the past.

Wake up early, like at 5:30 am, and fill your day with fun activities, including mowing the lawn, running for an hour, going for a swim, do a summer science project, etc. Don't drink anything except water after dinner. Don't exercise after dinner. Read a book or something. Get off the computer, no television.

Hey, you asked. I didn't say it would be easy.

What do you find boring to do? Do that before going to bed

The best things to do are things that calm your mind down

Because you think about it while you're trying to go to sleep and you're looking at the clock probably thinking "oh come on already", you're not calming down.

Try some soft music. Nothing with words or has a beat though.
Something soothing like relaxation music - waterfalls, birds, ocean sounds. These CDs are in the new age section of music stores.

Don't go to sleep tonite, stay up all day tomorrow and do things all day, stay busy, do not go to sleep until your school time bed time, 8pm, 9pm. believe me you'll be ready to sleep if you haven't napped. then set alarm to get up same time you would for school. then keep that schedule. be active during the day and do not take naps, you'll be able to sleep just fine. if not read a boring book in bed, no computer or tv.

As one who has suffered with this problem all my life, here are my suggestions and what worked for me: do not drink any beverages containing caffeine for at least 3 hrs. before bed, lay out your clothes for the next day, have any homework done 1 hr. before bedtime, take a 1 hr. "unwind" time before bed, take a warm bath to aid in relaxation, and 1 cup of hot herbal tea(WITHOUT caffeine), go to bed same time every night, and don't sleep in on weekends!! it did work for me--goo luck!
