Electric toothbrushes are good they do clean well, but you do need to have good brushing habits to begin with you just can't hold the toothbrush in your mouth and expect it to get your teeth clean, you have to know what angle to hold it at and move it around just like you would a regular toothbrush. Those are all things a lot of people don't think about when they are using an electric toothbrush. The sonicare toothbrush is one of the best on the market by the way..

Electric toothbrushes r a better option if u r not able to handle the manual one well. but no toothbrushes can remove hardened plaque, which is called tartar or calculus. after a scaling, toothbrushes prevent calculus if u can handle them well. along with brushing, do rmbr to floss ur teeth also.

The Sonicare is head and shoulders above the rest of them and yes, if you read the book and follow directions, they do a good job. They won't chip tartar off of your teeth if you have any, but they will keep it from coming back after you have a dental cleaning.
