It's August 6th, I've had a cough since June 10th. I recently have been having really bad headaches, but at the same time, I'm extremely light headed, I'm about to fall over as I'm typing, and am sitting. I'm drinking water constantly. I have an inhaler (albuterole) but, it's not helping much, and my mom has been giving me an allergy medicine, but it's not helpping.
If it helps, (nurse practition\er said it did) anything I cough up, is a milky white (sorry to gross any of you out), but it is transparrent. As I'm typing, my hands/legs are getting shaking and weaker, so I'll have to get off, please, somebody, if you know, what is going on?

My experience is that 90% of minor illnesses are psychosomatic. In other words, having this perpetual cough freaked you out and made you feel out of control of your own body. You started freaking out even more and conjured up other symptoms, like the weak and shakyness.

The fact that what you are coughing up is white or transparent makes me really think that you are making yourself sick. If you had some form of a lung infection you would cough up bright yellow or green gunk. Whitish or clear gunk is normal and healthy gunk.

I'm sorry if this sounds a bit condecending, it really wasnt meant to be. But, try for a few days just to tell yourself that you are not sick. That your symptoms are just physical representations of your anxiety over your cough. You will probably see an improvment in your symptoms. Good luck to you.

Have you been to a doctor? A virulent form of upper respiratory infection has been going around. Several people I know have been sick for months. The symptoms have been severe enough to mimic serious heart and lung conditions. Fatigue and weakness are problems. Several have taken courses of potent antibiotic but I am not sure it has been the cure. You should go see a doc.

You need to go to ER. Health insurance pays most of the visit. You'll have to give them a detailed description of what you've been feeling. Then they'll do x-rays. I recommend going right now or tomorrow morning. Dont wait.

You need to go to a hospital if you are shaking so much you can't type. You could be in congestive heart failure if you are coughing up foamy sputum.

Get the heck out of there and go to the hospital!

Sorry, i'm not a medical practitioner...but what you have sounds very similar to something i've experienced-Mono. It's called the "kissing disease" but it's not only from kissing, it's from sharing drinks, food, etc. If you ask your doc for a mono test it could be positive...hope this helps.

You need to see a doctor and get a chest x ray. You may just have a post-infectious type of asthma but you also may have an incompletely treated bronchitis or even pneumonia.

I am a nurse with 25 years in the ER. My first question is do you have a fever---check with a thermometer. Also get checked for diabetes. It can cause thirst and weakness.

Please make an appointment to see your MD as soon as you can and describe your symptoms. I would guess he would probably order some blood tests. etc. to see exactly what is going on with you. And just to ease your mind, coughing up milky white sputum is much better than it being yellow or green! See your Doc.asap
