Get a jar of mayo and put it all over your head and wrap your head in plastic wrap or a plastic cap. Keep it on for like 3 hours or as long as you can. Then wash your hair.
My sisters child had them bad and she tried everything. The mayo worked. She hasn't had them since.

GREASE GREASE and MORE GREASE!!! My little sister went to a school that was infested with lice when we were younger. We had it so bad that the shampoo didn't work anymore and it became expensive anyway. THE CHEAPEST WAY? Go to the store, buy a "cat flea comb" preferably the one with the metal teeth (best for thick, long hair, and it lasts), and a thing of vasilene. In the shower once you've washed your hair, part it like you are flat ironing and comb your hair with the flea comb. Keep combing until nothing comes out (it will take awhile at first.) Once out of the shower, slather the vasilene into your hair and either pull it up or braid it. LICE CAN BREATH UNDER WATER, SO THE SHAMPOO'S DON'T REALLY HELP ANYWAY. YOU NEED TO SUFFOCATE THEM AND THEIR EGGS WITH GREASE like vasilene or whatever. Do this (and of course change your bedding, vacuum your house and wash your clothes and hats) and I can voutch that they'll be gone within a week.

Medicated lice shampoo WILL work, no matter what your hair is like. But, you DO need to get out all tangles, so that you can comb the eggs out.Get a bottle of glycerin at the pharmacy, in the section with camphor oils and such..Mix the glycerin with small amount of water, and pour through your hair.. It will make the hair slick, and easily detangled...Repeat the shampoo every other day, and it WILL get rid of lice..Nix or Rid will do the trick..

Get your hair cut short, then re-do the shampoo. Or, be prepared to give your hair some serious conditioning - having a friend to help brush it out would be good - and a *LONG* soaking in lice shampoo.

I'd suggest Frontline because that takes lice off of pets, but it's technically illegal to use on humans and your hair might still be too thick for it to work.

Sorry but there's no quick and easy solution.

You need to use the head lice shampoo. Then you need to use a whole jar of mayonaise. Leave on for at least and hour and then get in shower with the fine comb they give you with head lice shampoo and keep combing your hair with it. The mayonaise makes the head lice eggs soft and they will come out of hair. Then shampoo hair and blow dry. Tomorrow repeat the mayonaise procedure and again 1 week from now. Make sure you wash and dry all your bedding and spray around house with bug killer, like on furniture you sit on.

OMG!!!...that sucks!!!! I had lice for like a freakin year!! My hair is also very thick and long!!! The only think that got me rid of them is using Mayonaise!!! Yes, Mayo!!!! What you do is get sections of your hair and put mayo all over it and then put a bag like a "Fry's Bag" over your head sleep w/ it on your head and then in the morning wash it off....It suffocates the bugs!!...the reason the lice shampoo is working is because they get ammouned to it and it doesn't hurt them anymore after u put it on 1 million times!! Good Luck!

You need to consider cutting some of your hair off, or at least asking the beautician to thin it out. Then, try the lice shampoo again. If it still doesn't work, you need to try not washing your hair for like two or three days. It sounds gross, but lice prefer clean hair to live in over dirty hair.

When I was younger, my friend had thick hair too, and she would always have her hair in two tight braids, because supposedly that makes it harder for the lice to crawl throughout your hair, and they don't like it, making it harder for them to live. So completely medicate your hair, and if you need a detangler, they sell a spray at wal mart, then just do something to keep your hair tight and not loose.

First thing you do is get your hair cut into something short and stylish. Then shampoo with the medication and comb comb comb. Also, you'll need to wash all your bedding in hot water and run through the dryer.
