It depends on the brand. Many of the multigrain breads are also whole grain, while others just add the other kinds of grain to their basic white bread. Look on the ingredients list to see what is in the bread - you'll want to see something other than enriched wheat flour on there. In fact, "enriched" is generally code for "we processed the nutrients right out of the flour, so have some synthetic replacements".

Multigrain is usually processed just like white bread. You need to look for 100% whole wheat or 100% whole grain.

Oatmeal is actually the best grain for you. Oatmeal lowers weight and cholesteral. Mulitgrain may sound great, but that popped wheat and some of the "binders" they use to infuse all those different grains may adversely affect your well being. If this is a huge question that your having a hard time finding a answer for you may want to speak with a nutritionist or go to a health food store and ask someone there.

Don't go by the name. Look at the nutrition info on the bakc of the bag....anything over 3 grams of fiber per 100 calories is great. Many many many of them show 1 gram of fiber per 100 calories. that's false advertising. 2 grams of fiber per 100 calories is ok, but there's still way too much refined flour and sugar in there.

Find 4 grams of fiber per 100 calories. (you usually won't find this in rolls -- only in break, usually dark breads)

whole grains are much more healthy than white bread. i.e - most of the minerals and vitamins have not been bleached out.
Look at it this way - the less processing the food has undergone - the healthier it will be..
