I've had bad breath for a while now and I thought I had fixed it when I switched to a non-alchohol mouthwash but surely I still have it. I brush twice everyday.. floss.. use my toungue scrubber, nothing. I'm going to make an appointment with a dentist but was wondering if there's anything I havent tried.

Also I think it's something with my toungue because when I lick my lips or sometimes when I dont, I get this white stuff on my lips which I have to wipe off. Dont know what's wrong, someone help!

You could have an oral yeast infection (gross, I know, but I think it's quite common...) Check this page out for more info:

http://www.nutrition4health.org/nohanews/NNS95OralYeastInfections.htm

Also, first try picking up some "Cepacol" mouthwash before you seek any treatment. It's supposed to help clear up mild cases of oral yeast infections, so that might do the trick. It worked for my mother. If that doesn't work, you might want to see a doctor. If it isn't a yeast infection, it could be your diet. If you consume a lot of protein (esp. from meat products) the proteins break down and expell themselves through the porous areas of your body (mouth, skin etc...) and is the cause for a lot of body odours. Try changing your diet if all else fails... eat more fibre, carbs etc.

You most likely have a stage of gum disease. You should make an appt with your dentist to have a thorough cleaning and evaluation on your gums. You dentist may suggest a different type of cleaning as well (gross scalling and or scaling and curetage) Or he or she (Dentist) may refer you to a periodontist( Gum specialist) for further evaiuation and treatment.

You should always brush your tongue as well when you brush your teeth. You can also get a (TONGUE SCRAPER) at your local drug store and always replace your toothbrush ever 3 months.
You may want to invest in a electric toothbrush (Sonicare) is the best. It's about 100.00.

try hydrogen peroxide mouthwash, it is equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and salty water.

I think part of the problem is your tootpaste, try baking soda based toothpastes.

You should get some dentist to look at your mouth as you may having some gum disease going on. bad breath is also an indicator of many underlying serious diseases like an ulcer or diabetes.

you could try some herbal medicine, here is a weblink:

calm down...your not a freak or anything...i personally don't have the second part of your problem, but i smoke and drink coffee a lot...so i feel ya with the tongue scraper...anyway...go to your dentist...that really is where you will get the right answers for YOU, not just a bunch of good answers that have helped others...you need to have your problem solved individually for you alone by your own personal dentist...good luck
