CT scan uses X-Rays. MRI uses magnetic resonance.

Two different methods of viewing inside your body. Sometimes CT scans can't pick-up things that MRIs can see and sometimes MRIs scans can't pick-up things that CT scans can.

Just sit back and enjoy the banging sound of the MRI.

the new ct scans shows 16 or more slices. ( excuse my words), and can show much more than the old ones, but an mri is usually necessary to give the right answer thus showing more, go for it, and good luck. If you have a problem with an mri closed in feeling, use the new open gap, its a breeze.

There a lott of differences, but to make it simple.
CT scans are good with scanning the bones but not the tissue in detail.
MRI's are great at scanning the tissues for any abnormality.SO when an abnormality is suspected in ct scan,an MRI is performed for detailed information in regard to tissues and sadly MRI is not good for bones.

MRI is much more accurate. Think of digital cameras. think of the difference in clarity and color between a 1 megapixel and a 5 megapixel.

I had a CT in the emergency room and they couldn't verify anything. Later that morning, I had an MRI and confirmed no problem.

Hope that helps.
