Don't bother with mayonaise or kerosene, just get the Rid or whatever OTC remedies are available. Wash all your bedding, treat your couch, chairs, etc with the spray. Head lice have become very resistent to many things. You can also ask the doctor for help. It is also important to use the comb that comes with the shampoo to removve ALL nits. Go outside, in the sunlight and have someone comb through the hair to remove the nits. Dead ones will slide off while live nits will still stick to the hair shaft.

ZERO! I've heard about this treatment, but I'm not convinced it works. Go to the drugstore and by Rid or use vinegar and a fine tooth comb to go thru and get the lice and nits out. Talk to the pharmacist-they can tell you what all you need to do and what treatments work. Also check out Web MD. I know they have info on head lice.

I say use the RID because lice have eggs and the mayo is not going to kill the eggs its just going to drown the live lice, then more will hatch that ore still on the hair shaft...........

Thrill88 said it right. After you do all that though you have to do it again I think about 5-7 days later. When you go outside the nits shine in the sunlight. It takes FOREVER to pull them all out so get as many as you can out. And make sure you do it again the 5-7 days later, cause the nits you miss or don't die will hatch and you have your mess all over again.

about an hour.shame..my friends lil boy caught lice from daycare. anywayz i went to her house and her lil boy had it in his hair.She left it in there for about an hour. It worked too..its crazy..but now I cant even stand to eat mayo. any more..lol.it cleaned her boy's head though..lol

Why don't you try Rid??? It's actually made for that purpose, you know. And it's going to take at least a week to wash all that mayonnaise out of your (or your kid's) hair!!!
