A friend of my family has been arrested for her second or third (I'm not sure) offense of writing her own presciptions for pain killers that she used for her bad back. She is now in a prison in Illinois until her trial. What will her sentence probably be?

I know for a fact she's addicted. After 2 or 3 offenses, doesn't it go unsaid?

Forgery on a physicians presciption is a Federal offense. The doctors have a DEA number for writing prescription narcotics. She will be facing a jail term, especially since it is not her first time.Sounds like she needs drug treatment.I too have a bad back,I go to a PAIN SPECIALIST for my pain.I agree that she is using her back as the excuse. There are so many new treatments for back pain, that she shouldn't forge a doctors signature.

And by the way,how did she get a hold of a physicians prescription pad anyway?

Her bad back is her EXCUSE, if you don't see this you're in denial as well. She's addicted!!

Just like any other addict, she's gone and done something illegal just to get her 'fix.'

What was it, Vicodin? It's a common addiction.

As a resident of Illinois, I don't know what the recommended sentancing would be. But no matter what, I hope she gets help for her addiction before it kills her.

If shes serious about quitting tell her to ask the judge to place her in a detox program rather than jail. He will probably tell her she has to finish the program to avoid conviction. If he goes for it & she is sincere shell be out of jail &in a rehab place in no time. Warning if shes lucky enough to get it follow the judges orders exactly.
