My daughter is 2 years old and she's very active. She still sleeps in her crib and sometimes she manages to get out of it. I'm so concerned that she might fall off the crib and hurt herself. Is it time to convert her crib to a toddler bed? I'm also worried that she might get out of the bed while i'm asleep. what should I do?

Definately i would go for a toddler bed. I think she might be ready for it. When my daughter was 3 I bought a toddler bed and she was so excited with her new bed that she wanted to be there all the time. Just be careful about the fact that she might get out of bed when you're asleep. I suggest to attach a gate on her room's door so she can't get out at night, and also be sure her room is child safe. If you still have the baby monitor use it too.
Good Luck!

Get her a toddler bed but if she keeps coming in your room don't let her sleep with you, that can turn into an ugly, hard to break habit. If you don't feel that your child is ready you can buy these nets that fit over the crib and have a zipper on the outside. They are really nice. I babysat for a friend with twin boys and she had them. I bought one for my son's crib too. My husband pointed out that it was like a jail cell but my reply was that they were already in the crib...now they have tried to escape and have been bumped up to a high security cell. Your daughter sounds like she is ready for a big girl bed. Are you potty training her yet. Here is a tip 4 that. If she wakes up from an afternoon nap and her diaper is dry she is ready.

If she manages to get out of her crib, then it's time for a toddler bed. They're lower to the floor, so she won't hurt herself getting out. It's also worrisome that she'll wander around the house and do something harmful. I had the same worries with my daughter who converted to a bed at age three, but did manage to get up in the middle of the night and leave her room. I made her promise to come and get me if she woke up, which she did. You shouldn't lock her in her room because of the fire hazard. If you still have a baby monitor, use it again to keep tabs on her. Make sure you still have baby locks on the cabinets and make sure the front door can't be opened by her. You may have a few sleepless nights at first, but she (and you) will get used to it quickly. Good luck!

Several possibilities, in no particular order... Put that crib mattress to the lowest possible setting, make sure Her bedroom is safe for her to play in, Put up a toddler bed in the corner farthest from the door, and have her start taking daytime naps there (she'll let you know when she wants to use it at night), install a GATE in the doorway that is tall enough that she can't climb over it (yet), or better yet, stack TWO. Make sure none of the furniture is MOBILE enough to push over and climb into (remove rollers or wheels, put tall toys away at night), make sure the locks on the windows are engaged, install a motion sensing night light near the crib or doorway, and now that you're sure she'll be able to amuse herself Safely in her bedroom, should she wake and get up at night... Get some sleep.

When they can climb out they are ready for a bed. My daughter
is almost 2 and 1/2 and she is in a twin bed already with a side
rail so that she won't fall out. She was in a toddler bed
at about 19 months. She also was very active but she is also
tall for her age and she kept hitting the side rail so I decided to try
the twin and she sleeps perfectly now and can get in and out without
a stool. It makes you more nervous than it really is. However it is
a whole new world when they can crawl out themselves any time they want! I put a gate in the doorway at first but now I wish I
hadn't because she didn't take to that to well and I had a lot of
problems with her standing at the gate and crying so now I don't
and its worked out great. The first thing she does when she gets
up is come into my room and wake me or crawl into my bed so
I haven't had to worry about her getting into any trouble.

get a toddler bed with guard rails, if she can climb out she will eventually fall. My 2 1/2 year old was standing on her stepstool after using the potty and she was pulling up her shorts and she fell and fractured her wrist, she has to wear a cast for 3 weeks, she was less than a foot off the floor. be careful

The sooner the better because children have been known to substain serious injuries by falling out of their cribs. You can always get the knob covers so she cannot get out of her room when you are asleep. You can use a baby monitor just in case.

It's definitely time for the toddler bed. Have a talk with her and just tell her that if she wakes up, the only place she's allowed to go is into Mommy's room.

i would keep her in the crib
just keep the rail down so she doesnt have to climb as high to get out
she knows exactly what she is doing and will only do what she feels safe doing....
my youngest stayed in his crib till he was 3 and i got him into a normal bed straight after that...
just dont make it hard for her to climb out that is when accidents happen...
keep the house safe so she cant hurt herself... but more often than not she will come to find you first...
i always make my children come and give me morning cuddles every morning... my oldest is 8 and youngest almost 5... that way they always naturally come in to my room first before they venture off anywhere
