what is the best way to develop more healthy self confidence and how can I get a spirit thats much more alive I was abused as a kid and now I am too reserved I am desperate to get back that life force that I was born with.

You are first gonna have to let go of what happened and learn to forgive. I know that's easy for me to say, because I don't know the details. I had a best friend in high school that had been sexually abused by her step father and it took years of therapy to overcome what happened to her. She finally figured out how to get on with her life. She had to come to terms with what had happened and when she went through therapy they got it all out in the open and she began to heal and let it go. She had a VERY difficult time forgiving, but over time she managed. It mentally was wearing her down. She is now grown 30 something and has a child of her own.She is a single mother only because she chooses to be. She has been engaged but never got married. She's a beautiful person, inside and out. I hope you don't let this stop you from being the person you once were. When the time is right you'll be able to accomplish everything you set your mind too. Know that you didn't ask for this to happen,and use it some how in a positive way. Maybe help others in situations like yourself. Feel good to be alive. Show it and don't be afraid of life. We're not guaranteed a long life, so you better get to living it soon. Take small steps, and do something exciting, challenging, interesting,fun, etc. Start with something simple, pick one thing and run with it!!! You have to feel good about yourself inside, look down deep and let your spirit soar. - Ask God to help, and to bring peace, and life back into you.

I think it might be a good idea to start doing something for your mind body and soul like yoga and meditation - even accupuncture I have heard is very good for a variety of things. It would probably also help to read some good self help books - they write great ones that really help you to look at yourself and your life.

Being abused is hard - if you have not worked through it with a counselor I would do that. And even harder is forgiveness - I know how hard that can be but your soul will never move on until you are able to forgive that person for what they did to you. It did not define you. Try to do things that bring you joy and peace - spend time with nature - camping, hiking, exploring things - Good luck - good question

Yoga and meditation are good for centering, revitalizing. Also, meditation can help you deal with the issues that may linger from having been abused. Therapy can be helpful, too, but meditation is at least a good step in the right direction.

Tai Chi and long walks in the woods alone. Plus: take a trip by yourself and join a new group (volunteer, or book discussion, etc.)

Get out and meet new people, sometimes you need to take 2 steps back in order to move ahead.
