This question I have always wondered.

A difficult question. Those of us with experience have had our personal "longest train ever." The longest I ever ran was a bit over 10,000 feet, very close to two miles in length.

By longest what do u mean the length of the train or the route?

The longest train I've ever seen had 130 freight cars, I saw the train at the east end of Kennewick on the BNSF line going from Portland to Pasco.

I think it was 452,868 cars hauling beautiful women. Wait, that was my dream last night. Sorry. I really dont' know. The longest I've seen are around 130 cars hauling coal in Wyoming. Those are long.

Don't know, but I know it is longer than 130. The average train has like 150. Yes, I've sat and counted a few times.
